FAMU Women Currently Leading in the Short Sprints!


 Florida A&M University has been illuminating their performances on the track with their depth in the women's 60 meters (Tionna Brown - 7.42, Nya Blocker - 7.43, Rori Lowe - 7.58, Naveyh Frost - 7.69, Dayka Cunningham - 7.73). Brown, who currently has the fastest 60-meter time in HBCU Track & Field in 2024 also runs a leg on the 4x400 (along with Tatiana Martinez, Lowe, and Alesia Douglas), which is presently ranked #1 in the SWAC and #3 in HBCU T&F with a time of 3:49.02.

Super Frosh Torian is Already Making Noise in the SWAC in the Women's Hurdles!

 


Ana-Liese Torian of Alabama A&M is already making her presence known indoors in the 60-meter hurdles as a freshman! At the Vanderbilt Invitational, she blazed to a PR time of 8.35, which currently ranks her 1st in the SWAC and 2nd in all of HBCU Track & Field.

Claflin Ain't Playing Around!

 

This past weekend, the Claflin University men's 4x400 relay team ran a sizzling 3:13.22 at the Gamecock Opener indoor meet in Columbia, SC. The are just 1 of 3 Division 2 teams ranked in the HBCU top 5 thus far in the 2024 indoor 4x400 performance list.

HBCU Student-Athletes Secure Their Spots for the NCAA First Round!


Kenneth Pree (Texas Southern University) will be attempting to qualify for the finals of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June 2023, in the long jump by hopefully leaping far enough at the NCAA West First Round Meet in Sacramento, CA, from May 24-27, 2023. His personal best is 25'8.25."

Who is the Fastest Man in the MEAC???

 

The "fastest man in the MEAC" will be revealed on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Norfolk, VA, at the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Expect for Waddell Rembert-Jett (South Carolina State - 10.22), Kai Cole (Norfolk State - 10.24), Solomon Hammond (Coppin State - 10.31), Carl Drakes (Coppin State - 10.33), and Kristopher Brown (South Carolina State - 10.36) to contest for that title.

Who Will Be the Fastest Man in the SWAC?????

 

No matter if it is the Olympics, World Championships, NCAA Championships, etc. most track & field fans want to know who is the fastest athlete. At this year's SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, there are five particular gentlemen that will be vying for the title, "Fastest Man in the SWAC." Justus Trainer - 10.24 (Alabama State University), Victor Smith - 10.25 (Alabama State University), Jermaine Dyges - 10.29 (Bethune-Cookman University), Matthew Clarke - 10.32 (Alabama State University), and Dajon Clark - 10.39 (Florida A&M University). This should be an exciting race from start to finish!

Morgan State's Jackson, the Lone 20 foot Long Jumper!


Tia Jackson (Morgan State University) is the only Division 1 HBCU long jumper in women's track and field that has eclipsed a wind legal 20-foot jump thus far in 2023. The Bristol, UK native has a personal best of 20'4.5" and will be the legit favorite to win the MEAC Outdoor title next week in Norfolk, VA.

Jones, In a League of Her Own!

 

Alabama State middle distance competitor Shamia Jones has been a dominant force in the SWAC women's 800 meters. Going into the upcoming SWAC Outdoor Championships, she has a commanding 5 second lead on her nearest competitor. She definitely is no stranger to the victory podium. Her season best is 2:08.83.

Who is the Fastest Woman in the SWAC???

 

The title of the fastest woman sprinter is on the line in the women's 100 meter dash at the upcoming SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will be held at Prairie View A&M University. Lauryn Hall (Florida A&M), Asjah Harris (PVAMU), and Trinity Bolden (Southern U) have the fastest wind legal times in the order of 11.53, 11.68, and 11.74. The winner will most likely run their personal best in this well anticipated showdown.

Jearl Miles Clark, an Alabama A&M Legend!

 

Jearl Miles Clark is a 1989 graduate of Alabama A&M University. She once held the American record in the women's 800 meters in 1:56.40. During her illustrious career, she earned 2 Olympic golds ('96 and '00) and one silver medal ('92) in the 4x400 meter relay. In 2010, she was inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame.

Who Will Be King of the SWAC Outdoor 400 Meters???


Currently, Shawn Collins (Jackson State) has the fastest time in the SWAC at 400 meters by more than a full second in 45.60. However, the defending outdoor conference champion (Damon Cobbs of PVAMU) is not ready to relinquish his crown.
