Bama State Foursome Looking For a Sub-39!!!

 



Alabama State University currently has the fastest time in the 4x100 among all HBCU's at 39.28. There is a great chance that they can become only the 2nd HBCU to ever run a under 39 seconds in that race by season's end. The foursome are listed on the photo above and have a great chance at making it to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this June, in Austin, Texas.

Clap Clap Productions Has the Best Man in the Game!

 


Texas Southern University graduate Clyde E. Duncan Jr. is the best PA announcer on the planet in the sport of track & field. You can find him at both indoor and outdoor meets from high school to the professional ranks. His healthy vernacular and voice reflection never ceases to keep the crowd entertained while enjoying any of the events within the stadium. "Clap Clap Productions" is the name of his company. Duncan is also a former NCAA All-American in track and field.

Beard is #6 in the World!

 



Howard University hurdler Dylan Beard had a great day at the Tom Jones Invitational (Gainesville, FL) this past weekend when he ran a personal best, wind-legal time of 13.31 (2.0) in the 110-meter hurdles. That time currently ranks him #2 in the NCAA and #6 in the world. He also set a new school record with that performance.

Coppin State's Hammond is the New Sheriff in the LJ!

 




Jeff Hammond of Coppin State University now holds the #1 spot in the long jump in HBCU Track & Field. His leap of 25'2"/7.67 meters (0.6) this past weekend at the South Florida Invitational catapulted him to the top.

Abdul-Rasheed is Tied for the Fastest Collegiate Time in the Nation!!!!

 





Florida Memorial University’s Saminu Abdul-Rasheed is now tied for the fastest wind-legal time in the nation among collegiate competitors in the 100 meter dash at 10.04 (-0.3).

GSU's Sterling Making Her Presence Felt in the Half Lap!

 






In the past, Dayna Sterling (Grambling State University) was known for her strength and endurance in the 400 meter hurdles. This outdoor season she is making a name for herself in the 200 meters, running the fastest time thus far among all of her fellow HBCU competitors at 23.11 (2.7w) and ranking her #12 in the NCAA under any conditions.

Scott is Earning Respect in the Half Mile!

 





Southern University's Nicholas Scott thus far is the only HBCU competitor that has run the 800 meters in sub-1:50 this year outdoor season. The Baton Rouge native has been timed at 1:49.93. Scott also does an outstanding job as part of the Jaguars 4x400 relay team.

Clark Has Been Soaring for FAMU!

 




Dajon Clark of Florida A&M currently has the farthest distance of any HBCU competitor in the long jump at 25'1.25" (1.7). There is a strong chance that the Miami native can eclipse the 26-foot mark by the 2023 NCAA East Regional Meet due to his impending potential and sprinter's speed.

HBCU Student-Athletes Have the Top Times in the Quarter!

 

Currently, two of the top times collegiately in the men's outdoor 400 meters are the products of HBCU's. Raheem Hayles (l) of North Carolina A&T and Shawn Collins from Jackson State. Hayles owns the fastest time in the nation (among collegiate athletes) at 45.47 while Collins is tied for 2nd at 45.60. Expect for each of these young men to be contenders at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas in June.

Khan Finishes 4th in the University Women's 100 Meter Hurdles at the Texas Relays!

Darci Khan (Howard University) ran a personal best of 12.96 (2.0) to finished 4th in the University Women's 100 meter hurdles at the 2023 Texas Relays. She is currently tied for 6th in the nation of wind-legal times in the NCAA. (click on the link above)

Wright Is a Force to Be Reckoned With!

 

Jessica Wright of Howard University proved that she can run with the best of them at the NCAA D1 level by placing 2nd in the women's 400 hurdles at the 2023 Texas Relays in Austin. She crossed the finish line 55.98, just .02 seconds behind the winner of the race.
